What is Apraxia of Speech

Speech Pathologist

Kieran has been working for many years to help children with special needs in communication. His philosophy is that children need to be heard, not just seen.

Since achieving his Bachelor of Speech Pathology, he has shown his dedication to helping people with communication difficulties through his clinical work and research pursuits.

Kieran has a keen interest in Childhood Apraxia of Speech and has even travelled overseas to complete training in Apraxia therapy and attend Apraxia conferences.

 
     
Kari Baker
Speech Pathologist

Kari Baker, M.S., CCC-SLP has joined Max's House from the United States of America. She is registered with the Speech Pathologists Board of Queensland and is a member of Speech Pathology Australia. In addition, Kari is a licensed speech-language pathologist in the state of California and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Kari received her Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders from Biola University in 2006 and her Master of Science in Communicative Disorders from the University of Redlands in 2008. Kari has provided speech therapy in numerous settings including hospitals, schools, and clinics in the United States. For the past two years Kari has practiced as a speech-language pathologist at a private clinic in Tustin, CA, where she provided individual therapy to children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech, phonological disorders, articulation impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorders, language disorders, fluency, tongue-thrust, and voice conditions.

     
     
Liz Davidson
Speech Pathologist

Liz joined the Max's House team in May 2011, after working as a children's speech pathologist in remote New South Wales, North Queensland and Western Australia.

Liz graduated from the University of Queensland in 2007, with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology. She has since gained experience specifically working with children with speech and language difficulties, as well as maintaining and continually developing professional competencies. This has earned her the Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status with the national body, Speech Pathology Australia. Liz is also registered with the Speech Pathologists' Board of Queensland.

As well as having developed specialist skills working with children who have Childhood Apraxia of Speech at Max's House, Liz brings with her skills in treating language delays in children under six, being trained in BLADES language therapy, Hanen Certification, and experienced in the WA Talking Together language acceleration program.

     
     
Sally Kelsey
Speech Pathologist

Sally graduated from the University of Queensland with a Master of Speech Pathology in 2003. She has worked in a variety of settings including Blue Care and Education Queensland. Sally quickly discovered her passion for helping children with complex speech disorders when she started working at Max's House when it opened in 2006. She has completed extensive training in relation to treatment approaches for Childhood Apraxia of Speech including David Hammer's Multisensory Cues, DTTC, PROMPT and the Kaufman Technique. Sally draws from this knowledge and experience to provide an eclectic approach which is tailored to the needs of each child.
